Headquartered in Puerto Rico for the past 33 years, our commitment to the Island’s success is unwavering. As an active participant in the automotive industry, cyclical in nature, we have experienced periods of growth, prosperity and slowdown. Through our experiences, we have learned to successfully adjust and operate during varying economic times and have applied our core principles to promote the success of our Business Partners and consequently Puerto Rico.

Jose "Pepe" Llama
Founder and President

Pepe co-founded Artic-Kar on January 1981 focusing on distribution, sale and installation of vehicle air-conditioning and radio units. Throughout the last 30 years, Mr. Llama has been a pioneer in the vehicle accessory industry in Puerto Rico. On August 1988, Artic-Kar began offering Auto Processing services and since then has developed and mastered a nationally recognized operation. Mr. Llama is currently the President and sole-owner of CAPL, formerly Artic-Kar Inc., as he purchased the Company from his co-founder over 15 years ago.

 

During the past two decades, Mr. Llama has attended and participated in over 20 trainings throughout the world, focusing on vehicle distribution center operations, installation of accessories and efficiency in standard operating procedures, among others.

 

A sports enthusiast, Mr. Llama has represented Puerto Rico as both a water skier and a professional powerboat driver. As a water skier, Mr. Llama became National Champion and participated in the 1981 & 1984 Latin American Games. For the following 17 years, Mr. Llama focused on Powerboat races, best known for his 3 national championships as the throttle man for the “Winston” powerboat and his participation in the APBA/OSS United States circuit where he raced the “Spirit of Puerto Rico” super-catamaran and later was signed to Billy Mauff’s WHM team.

 

Mr. Llama, a cancer survivor, received an award from the American Cancer Society’s Puerto Rican Chapter and is active in helping others fight the disease.

Augusto Viera
Asset Manager

Augusto is a graduate of Bentley University with a degree in Managerial Economics and Entrepreneurship. A Dean’s List Award recipient, Mr. Viera won a prestigious Entrepreneurship Competition judged by a group of Boston’s top academics and angel investors.

 

Subsequently Mr. Viera graduated Magna Cum Laude from Puerto Rico’s Inter American School of Law from which he earned a Juris Doctor. He scored a 99% on the Puerto Rico Bar Exam; touted as one of the hardest bar examinations in the nation.

 

Prior to joining CAPL, Mr. Viera worked at McConnell Valdes Consulting; a subsidiary of McConnell Valdes, LLC, the largest law-firm in Latin America. Mr. Viera has also provided operational and strategic consulting services in both the restaurant and automotive industries.

 

A quality and efficiency enthusiast, Augusto has attended multiple seminars, workshops and trainings. He is a ceritified vehicle quality auditor.
